It is important to remember that although it is legal, medical marijuana is still a regulated industry in the state. There are rules to be followed to avoid running into problems with local and state officials. It’s also important to note that medical marijuana has still not been approved for use on the federal level, and while you probably won’t face any consequences as long as you follow statutes set by the state, you could still find yourself if big trouble if you become to enterprising by becoming your own pot doctor when it comes to the sale and distribution of cannabis outside of the law.
Medical marijuana is easy to obtain
As long as you have a medically verifiable condition and follow the steps outlined by the State of NEVADA Health and Human Services Department, you should have little trouble in getting a medical marijuana card.
You start by submitting a one-page form to the state, requesting a Medical Marijuana kit, either as a user or as a caregiver. When the state approves your application, you meet with a cannabis doctor who will give you a medical marijuana recommendation based on your ability to show proof that you have a chronic or debilitating condition on a list of ailments approved by the state. Submit the approved recommendation to the state and they will send you a temporary approval letter. At that point, you will go to the DMV, pay a small fee, and you will be issued a State of NEVADA Medical Marijuana card. The card will allow you to purchase up to 2.5 ounces of pot at any dispensary in the state every two weeks, or in some instances, you may be able to grow your own. To keep in good standing, you will need to renew your card annually.
